What is Composite Tooling?
Composite tooling refers to the design and manufacture of moulds and tools made from composite materials, such as carbon fibre, used to produce composite parts. These tools are essential for shaping and forming components with precision and consistency in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and marine manufacturing.
What Materials Are Used in Composite Tooling?
Common materials used in composite tooling include aluminium and pattern block. Aluminium provides durability and precision, while pattern block offers a high-quality surface finish, ensuring accurate and reliable tooling for production.
Why is Tooling Important in Manufacturing?
Tooling plays a vital role in the manufacturing process, as it directly impacts the quality and consistency of the final product. To produce high-quality composite parts, you need a tool that can be used repeatedly without compromising accuracy or detail. Well-made composite tooling ensures each component meets precise specifications, maintaining the integrity and performance of the final product.
